Debate for Developers: How Communication Can Change Your Career
What is this session about? Unfortunately, developers have a bad reputation for having poor communication skills. Being a solid communicator can make working within your team and others more productive. This session will teach how through the activity of debate, developers can make better technical decisions within your teams and accelerate your career growth. We will discuss what makes a ‘good’ debate and apply these principles to technical debates you might be having in your teams today. Why should you attend? This session will give you practical ways to become an effective technical communicator that you can start using in your day-to-day work immediately. Who should attend? Any developers or aspiring developers that are interested in growing their careers in ways other than learning a new framework or language. Speakers Bio Korey has a passion for both educating and inspiring others on what is possible with AI and how they can use it to build a new generation of products. He has mentored and guided startups through both the challenges and successes of working with AI. As a Cloud Advocate in the Microsoft Stockholm Reactor, his main goal is to expand AI literacy, support developers, and grow the AI community in Stockholm and beyond. Stephen Llano (B.A., Texas A&M; M.A., Syracuse University; Ph.D., University of Pittsburgh) is associate professor of rhetoric in the department of communication studies at St. John’s University.
