As you implement Dynamics 365 solutions, you have many considerations. These include designing for users, sharing solutions and progress with stakeholders, testing and documenting the solutions, and participating in application lifecycle management that your team has put in place. As a consultant on a project you possess a great wealth of knowledge to influence the design and share progress with stakeholders along the way.

Modules in this learning path

Dynamics 365 apps offer well-defined and user-friendly applications with a familiar Microsoft appearance and behavior. Nevertheless, it's still important to customize for the users. As you learn about your customer, it's essential that you use what you've learned to design the Dynamics 365 deployment.

Presenting to your stakeholders is an important part of your work. You know about the requirements that you’ve gathered and written. You’ve been hands-on, creating and customizing solutions for your customers. You’re the expert. In this module, you’ll learn about the various types of communication and presentations that you can expect on a project.

Documentation includes instructions for using and maintaining the Dynamics 365 systems that you’ve built and deployed. Several different types of documentation are available, and this module covers the most common ones.

If you don't test a solution, you won’t know if it's working, what might be wrong with it, if it meets the requirements as written, or if it meets the needs of the users. Testing is essential in building any kind of system that includes business applications with Dynamics 365.

While working as part of a project team, you’ll participate in the application lifecycle management (ALM) process that’s established for the team. An ALM strategy is in place to provide guidance and support to the team that’s deploying Dynamics 365 applications. ALM isn’t specific to Dynamics 365; it’s adapted for use from traditional software development practices. As a team member, you won’t be defining the ALM process, but it will impact how you work on the project. Knowing some ALM basics can help you be a more effective team member.
